Who We Are

The Lyceum Resource and Conference Center is an initiative of the Melville Charitable Trust, creating a common ground for all those working on solutions to homelessness, the development of affordable and supportive housing and the creation of vibrant healthy communities.  Based in the Frog Hollow neighborhood of Hartford, The Lyceum is home to the Partnership for Strong Communities, the Connecticut office of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, and Betty Gallo & Co.

The Lyceum is also the neighbor and partner of Billings Forge, an exciting new venture in housing and community development led by the Melville Charitable Trust.  The 98-unit affordable housing complex was once known as Billings & Spencer Co., where, in the spirit of past marvels of human ingenuity, beautifully designed precision tools were manufactured that supported the nation's industrial awakening.  Today, Billings Forge is creating new opportunities for community building and empowerment for the residents, their families and their neighbors.

About the Partnership for Strong Communities

The Partnership for Strong Communities is a non-profit organization that coordinates strategic housing policy development and advocacy. A catalyst for change, the Partnership convenes elected officials, community leaders, business executives and others to advance solutions to homelessness and affordable housing, and foster the creation of vibrant neighborhoods. As the policy arm of the Melville Charitable Trust, the Partnership promotes awareness of how housing opportunities affect the lives of Connecticut’s residents and the communities where they live.

The Partnership staffs both the Reaching Home Campaign and the HOMEConnecticut Campaign.  The Reaching Home Campaign promotes the creation of permanent supportive housing as a solution to chronic homelessness.  HOMEConnecticut, a statewide housing affordability campaign, promotes the creation of affordable rentals, starter homes and a wide spectrum of housing options for workers, young families and elderly residents.
